There are a growing number of internet entrepreneurs out there and this number is growing at a tremendous pace, but only a handful of these individuals eventually succeed in their endeavours. The reason behind this really boils down to certain traits and skills of successful internet entrepreneurs that the unsuccessful lack.

It is normal that not everyone possesses each and every trait and skill listed below but true successful online entrepreneurs learn how to focus on their capabilities and delegate those that are time consuming.

1. (Passionate) Passion for your business

A successful entrepreneur is not simply motivated by money and success. Usually, the ones who make it have a unique interest in their business that many do not understand. This interest pushes them to work the hours needed and motivates them to put in whatever is required to make their business work out. This is the passion of the successful online entrepreneur.

2. (Persistence) Persistent In Your Endeavours

Being able to continue pushing on even when faced with problems and difficulties is an important factor in reaching your goals. Every day, many internet ventures come and go and one of the core causes of this is the fact that many people simply give up when the going gets tough. When faced with problems hang in there and push on and eventually success will come your way!

3. (A Doer) Action Speaks Louder Than Words

I use an acronym a lot to describe someone who talks the talk but does not walk the walk. This person is a “NATO” – No Action Talk Only! These people can think up ideas and have great aspirations but when it actually comes down to getting their hands dirty, nothing really happens and they reject the work. This attitude will only result in failure and if you want to succeed, do something about that dream TODAY!

4. (Flexible) Flexible In Times Of Need

The times that we are living in move at a lighting pace, and this is especially true in the internet world. New challenges appear every day and changes are the only constant. In order to be successful, you must be flexible enough to adapt to changes rapidly and keep up with the times. Otherwise, you will eventually be left behind.

5. (Articulate) Ability To Communicate

In the past, when doing business brick and mortar style, communication was usually the key to getting sales and this fact has not changed for an internet business. Although we now have many more mediums with which to communicate, like email, blogs, instant chats, social media sites and forums etc, eventually, the point of all these mediums is to reach your target audience and get your intended message across. If you cannot achieve that, then all the work that you do eventually goes to waste

6. (Optimistic) The Glass Is Always Half Full

A successful internet entrepreneur needs to always have a positive outlook in life. To be absolutely truthful I believe that this actually stands for all aspects in life but here, I’ll just keep to the business point of view. With a positive outlook, and a “can do” attitude, problems will become opportunities and issues will become life experiences.

7. (A Planner) Advance With A Purpose

To be a truly successful entrepreneur, you must have a plan. For every action that you take, you should be achieving a sub-task or goal towards a bigger plan. Achievement can only be gained when there is a goal to be accomplished and if this goal does not exist in a specific form you will find it hard to eventually attain it.

8. (Intelligent Bravery) Courage with Intelligence

I really love to use this phrase when describing the action of thinking TOO much but never taking any action – “ANALYSIS PARALYSIS”. It is imperative that proper due diligence and calculation is taken before any decision is made but once you know that something is going to work, then make the decision fast and take action. To truly succeed, risks must be taken and if too much time is wasted evaluating an opportunity, you’ll realise that it’s going to pass you very fast!

9. (Eager to Learn) Hungry For Knowledge and Skills

In order to keep up with the required knowledge to sustain an internet business, you must always put aside some time for enrichment and education. Learn more about successful marketing, about copywriting, about life in general and always be eager to know new things. Only when you develop yourself as a person can your business grow in relation.

The list of traits and skills of successful internet entrepreneurs can go on and on because humans will never cease to amaze at how they can be innovative and develop new skills and traits to succeed. But the above 9 traits and skills represent the essential ones that I believe are needed for success. Use this list well and I’m certain that it will help you discover the success that you truly desire online.
